Tompkins’ Differentiators
Network Design and Optimization Experience: Tompkins has one mission–to deliver value to our clients through improving their supply chain designs and operations. Network design and optimization is one of our core competencies; we have been performing this type of project since 1979. We have a proven approach and methodology plus the pharmaceutical industry knowledge to accomplish Merck’s Network Design objectives. We bring the right experience and the right team.
Comprehensive Approach to DC/Warehouse: A network model built on non-optimal facility performance leads to faulty capability and costs assumptions which negatively affect solutions. Tompkins’ deep warehousing operations knowledge and benchmarking database provides the ability to accurately assess the capabilities of current operations and determine best practices to improve performance.
Full Model: We implement what we design. Our services are set up to take you from initial strategy development through turnkey implementation. Our deep experience in implementing solutions results in better designs and more successful projects–on time and within budget.
Senior-Level Team: We are assigning senior executives, principals and consultants with broad-based experience who have executed this type of project many times–we understand the issues.
Our Consulting Culture: We work with you, not for you. We train, coach and transfer knowledge along the way. Our clients are always better at what they do after we serve them. In fact, some 90% of our clients continue to work with us repeatedly following our initial engagement.
On every Major Project we Identify a Portfolio of Initiatives that are Scored and Prioritization According to Value and Timeliness
Initiatives are derived to address a gap or seize an opportunity identified that will improve flexibility, response, profitability, productivity, etc.
ROI, time-to-achieve, dependencies and other client defined criteria, drive the ranking of each initiative.
Stakeholder buy-in is achieved through reviews, iteration and refinement of the defined path forward for each initiative.
Initiatives are aligned with the business strategy and goals, and identified in one of three priorities:
Do Now: Initiatives that have little or no costs associated with achieving a defined benefit. These initiatives may close gaps or achieve benefits outside the scope of the project.
Do Next: These typically focus on the core project objectives and include a detailed business case and timeline to complete.
Do Later: Often initiatives will be identified where a detailed ROI, project timeline, etc. is outside the scope of the current project, or the capabilities they enable are not required within the desired timeframe of interest.
